Hilary "Jamila" Ayer

Hilary is a long-term resident of Cairo, works as an Arabic translator, guide, and educator, homeschools her four children, and is basically bonkers over Egypt

As-salaam ‘aleikum! My name is Hilary, my friends call me Jamila, and the one thing you must know about me is that I adore Egypt. Another thing I love is adventure. I get my kicks from figuring out new and interesting places to visit and (most importantly) how to get there cheaply and efficiently – with children in tow. I especially enjoy taking other people with me on these adventures and showing them a side of Egypt they may have never seen on their own or with a traditional tour group.

My hope with this blog is to bring you along with me into my world as an adventure traveler with children in Egypt. Yes, with children of all ages! My four little hitchhikers currently range from age 8 to 15, but we started our adventures in Cairo and around Egypt when the youngest was only two years old. So listen up and buckle up, because I have something for everyone, whether it be the solo female traveler (I did it for years!), the solo male traveler (this is when my husband will chime in), groups (family reunion in Egypt, anyone?) or (and most especially) the family with children.
