Make Room for Fayoum!

Did you notice that the title of this tour sounds like we are hinting at something? Well, we are! Located just 65 miles southwest from downtown Cairo, the Fayoum Oasis has so much to offer: the picturesque countryside villages, ancient whale bone fossils amid cool rock formations, an ultra-modern climate change museum, powdery-pristine sand dunes, a “magic lake” and a night of Bedouin-style desert camping complete with a fire-roasted dinner and a night sky of astrological splendor under the stars. (Whewsh!) You’ll see a side of Egypt that will leave you with a true sense of wonder as you experience the geographical uniqueness of the Fayoum basin.

On your arrival day you’ll get situated into your Cairo hotel, then, on Day 2 of your tour, you’ll leave your hotel in the morning and drive to the charming village of Tunis to see the pottery art studios and have a traditional Egyptian lunch. You’ll spend the rest of the day enjoying the sand dunes, lakes, and Valley of the Whales. As evening comes on, you’ll settle into the campsite which, by the way, has a nearby guest house with a functioning kitchen, running water and flushing toilets for use. The campsite provides the tents and bedding for the guests. (You may want to pack a portable charger for your electrical devices.) In the morning after breakfast, we’ll head straight to Cairo where you’ll be able to go back to your 5-Star hotel for an hour or two where you can shower and get cleaned up and then we’ll venture back out into the city for more sightseeing.
